Metal Dumpster
A metal dumpster refers to a big waste container used to temporarily hold trash before it is moved to the landfill, incinerators or recycling centers. It is quite sturdy and hard-wearing considering the fact that it is made of strong material. Steel is commonly used for metal dumpsters to ensure that they are heavy duty and capable of carrying heavy weights. Metal dumpsters are therefore ideal for containing huge amounts of rubbish generated from construction projects, home renovations and big clean ups.
Metal dumpsters come in various designs and sizes. Your choice of metal dumpster will largely depend on your needs. If you are expecting tons of voluminous trash, such as in construction and major home renovations, you better opt for bigger-sized metal dumpsters. On the other hand, if you are planning for a small yard clean up or minor home repairs, smaller-sized metal dumpsters are also available.
Types of metal dumpsters
The types of dumpsters are based on their design for loading onto the garbage truck.
- Roll off metal dumpster – This type refers to dumpsters that are typically huge and can be rolled into place. Special roll off trucks are used to transport roll off dumpsters. During delivery, the truck makes use of hydraulics to incline the truck bed at the back. When this is done, the roll off dumpster slides off the truck and onto the ground. Though they are considered ideal for major construction projects because they are capable of carrying tons of trash, still they are available in various sizes like, 15, 20, 30 and 40 cubic yard capacities.
- Front load metal dumpster – This type is relatively smaller than roll off dumpsters. With sizes variations as 2 cubic yards, 4 cubic yards, 8 cubic yards and 10 cubic yards, these dumpsters are viable options for use in offices, small business establishments, hospitals, retail stores and schools. They can also be employed in small home renovation projects and clean-ups. This dumpster is designed with slots on both sides where the truck’s prongs are placed. The truck will then be able to raise the dumpster and empty the contents onto the back of the truck.
- Rear load metal dumpster – This type works similarly as the front loader, but employs straps and winches to unload the contents of the dumpster onto the dump truck. The sizes of these dumpsters range between 1 cubic yards and 10 cubic yards. Because of their comparatively small sizes, they are typically found attached to restaurants, apartment buildings, schools, offices and other small establishments. Renting a rear load metal dumpster is also a good option if there is no waste collection services in your vicinity.
Renting metal dumpsters
Before you rent a metal dumpster, you have to determine the amount of garbage that needs to be disposed of, the allotted space for the dumpster, the kind of waste that needs to be transported and disposed and the city regulations that govern transporting and disposal of wastes. This way, the rental company will be able to help you determine the right size and type of metal dumpster, as well as confirm if permits need to be secured first.
