Large Dumpster
At times when you need to tear out or demolish rooms that need renovating, it is essential to have a container to put all the waste in. The waste is accumulated inside this large dumpster and when it is filled, the hauling company will take these wastes away for you at a price. If the prices are too much of a burden for you, you can choose to haul the large dumpster yourself straight to the landfill.
It is a necessity to have your own dumpster but it can be a heavy burden to carry them around when you relocate from one place to another. That is why the best option is to rent a dumpster. These dumpsters are often called containers or sometimes roll-offs near areas of construction sites. They are easily noticeable since they are piled up at the sides of construction sites. The question is: how does one rent a large dumpster?
Large Dumpster Companies
Majority of container companies commonly deal their business with contractors so they might get agitated with someone who is not familiar with the terms or the procedures in renting a container. The terms “container” and “roll-off” are the acceptable ones, while the term “dumpster” is less often used. The container is rented in their standard sizes which is in cubic yards, but in communicating with the rental companies you better use the term yarder or yard instead of using the term cubic yards.
Permits for Large Dumpsters
You should acquire proper or legal permits if you want to place the large dumpster right on the street. You can claim these legal permits either from the building permit office or the parking enforcement office. This is especially important if you do not want to have any trouble with the authorities. This is unnecessary, though, if you are going to place the large dumpster right on your property if you have enough room for it.
There are certain places that do not allow placing containers on the streets especially if you are living in an area with an existing neighborhood association. These associations often have deals with the homeowners regarding waste collection. If you want it reconsidered there are always available exemptions by appearing and making an appeal in front of the board of the association.
Space for the Large Dumpster
Make sure to place the dumpster in an area that has enough space to maneuver in especially when the dumpster truck picks it up for transfer to the landfill. In order to keep the space surrounding the dumpster empty, especially in front of the large dumpster, place traffic cones in front of it to remind passersby and neighbors to steer clear of the area and not to place anything there. It would be quite annoying on your side if the truck driver would keep calling you about how they cannot get the container because of the limited space. When such case happens, most likely the large dumpster will not be picked up. Oftentimes, the pick-up schedule will be postponed or will be delayed for several days.
