20 yard Dumpster

In general contracting there’s a lot more trash involved than the talk going on over the radio-broadcast sports event! Dealing with home renovations and demolition projects means tons of trash – trash that needs to find its way to the dump at some point once the job is finished! Considering a standard truckload of trash will average at approximately 2 cubic yards, a 20 yard dumpster will get you ten times the bang for your buck! You’ll save gas by using it and only pay a nominal fee for rental and pickup/ disposal of the trash. If you purchase a reasonable sized receptacle like a 20 yard dumpster you can save even more and only pay for pick up/ disposal services once you’re done!

Mid-Sized Project Waste – Where to Put It

20 yard dumpsters may seem pretty large in scale as they take up the space of 22 feet long, 8 feet wide and stand at 4.5 feet tall but be sure that your project’s waste will fit before finalizing your decision on a 20 yard versus a larger container. A few jobs that will easily fit within a 20 yard dumpster include ripping up and redoing carpets in an entire house, the removal of roughly 300-400 sq. feet of decking or somewhere around 3,000 sq. feet of single layered shingle removal. A general rule of thumb is that if you anticipate having between 10-15 cubic yards of waste at the end of a project, opt for a 20 yard dumpster and you’ll only have to have the behemoth picked up and dumped once at the end of your project. This streamlines clean up and saves contractors gas on carting trash and waste materials away by the truck or vanload.

Why Opt for 20 Yards

The question remains: why go with a 20 yard dumpster versus a 15 yard or 30 yard? The answer is simple: economy. While the price per cubic yard goes down as you rent or purchase larger dumpsters, a contracting job quote can be cut significantly if the correct sized receptacle is used. Between a 15 and 20 yard dumpster there is a clear price increase. Since the difference is only 5 yards and the price increase is usually temptingly low between a 15 and 20 yard dumpster, if you’re debating between the two, go with the 20. The difference in price between 20 and 30 will be more expensive as it’s a significant jump in size. Even though the price per cubic foot decreases, the gap between sizes doubles between 15 and 30 yard trash receptacles. 20 is a great medium as 30 cubic yards is big enough to demo a large garage or handle the trash of building an entire mid-sized house and 15 is teeny for mid-sized yard debris clean up.

When Space and Economy Meet

When you need a quality dumpster to buy for future use – 20 yards is a great medium. It’s not too big. It’s not too small… it’s just right.
