Black Dumpsters
Contractors, businesses and homes use dumpsters. Everybody generates waste, and even if some people maygenerate more waste than others may, everyone is responsible for proper waste management. There are dumpsters of different colors so that people can know what goes in which dumpster just by looking. Black dumpsters are the most common dumpsters because they are used for what is known as “general waste”. “General waste” can be organic waste and anything else that cannot be recycled or reused. Although organic waste can be disposed in black dumpsters, it ought to be used for composting when possible.
What Does a Black Dumpster Contain?
Black dumpsters are super-common: most dumpsters are this color because they contain general waste. Residential waste containers are black because they contain all thetypical garbage and compostable material that a home generates over the course of a week. Anything that can’t be reused, recycled, composted, or reprocessed is considered general waste. By having different colored-dumpsters we effectively separate our waste and keep things as sanitary as possible. Many black dumpsters may contain grease. Grease is supposed to be disposed of differently than normal waste. There are different waste companies that take care of grease dumpsters because they require different handling and disposal. Some businesses use grease waste to produce biodiesel and others filter it for other uses.
What Other Colors/ Purposes of Dumpsters Are There?
Years ago, all waste was disposed in the same landfill or yard. With time, people realized that it wasn’t healthy for the environment to throw all garbage together in the same category. Today, dumpsters are clearly labeled in different colors to differentiate the type of waste inside. There are purple dumpsters that usually contain waste such as concrete, stones, bricks or asphalt. They can be foundat construction sites for the most part. There are red dumpsters that usually contain any type of biohazard waste. In addition, a universal insignia alerts people that the waste is biohazard material, (typically a white circle behind three adjoining crescents). There are yellow dumpsters, which are similar to red dumpsters, but mainly contain mass food waste. Green or blue dumpsters will contain recyclable materials in most cases. Be sure to read all labeling on the dumpsters you throw your trash out every time though to ensure you’re not polluting the environment unintentionally.
Keeping the Ecology Alive Through Responsible Waste Management
When it comes to the facilities responsible for waste management, organization pushes people to separate the waste out of their own freewill and it works well. By making recycling a voluntary responsibility, we avoid the backlash of fines or punishments but also gain the advantage of everyone that participates. By avoiding the accumulation of recycle-ablewaste, we protect the environment. There may be variations in the color scheme described above depending on the city and/or State where the dumpster is found but black dumpsters are most often used for general waste. By only putting materials that can’t be recycled here, we preserve our planet.
